The final scoreline was 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 as Djokovic sealed his 10 Grand Slam title of his career.

He might not have been able to add to his already illustrious trophy cabinet of 17 time grand slams as he lost out to Novak Djokovic in the US Open final on Sunday.
Federer insists that he will return to the US Open in 2016 despite losing Sunday’s final to Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic admitted he took inspiration from cult movie “300” and its Scottish star Gerard Butler, who was on hand to roar him to victory in the US Open final against 17-time Grand Slam victor Roger Federer.
In the second set Federer looked much sharper and had some big points down the stretch, winning the second set by breaking Djokovic’s serve. Djokovic, despite slipping at one point and having blood scraped on his elbow, took advantage of Federer’s early sluggishness and won the first set 6-4.
There was no mystery about it. Federer won just four of 23 break points.
It may seem a huge target to chase, but Djokovic is six years younger than Federer.
Despite the fall, the Serbian broke Federer again in the seventh game and went on to serve out the opening set 6-4. I’m pleased with where my game is at. Just as he had at the All England Club two months ago, Novak Djokovic halted the Roger Federer bandwagon in its tracks here last night to thwart the 34-year-old world No2’s latest attempt to roll back the years. He won three of four major titles and was runner-up in the other, a feat he’s never accomplished before. “I think we walk away from it knowing more about our games and more about ourselves”.
“Maybe I haven’t played this offensive for a very long time, and that’s maybe the reasons, as well, why maybe I was slightly shaky when it came to the crunch on the break points”.
“Some of them, I could have done better, should have done better”, the second-ranked Federer said.
Djokovic admitted that he felt a lot of pressure during the fourth set, especially when he was serving for the match. “I’m enjoying it more as a husband and a father, and this makes it more sweeter”. At 34 years old, Federer is one of the most accomplished male tennis players that the sport has ever seen.

“To win against one of the biggest rivals, as you said, all-time Grand Slam champion, somebody that, you know, always keeps on fighting till the last point, keeps making you play an extra shot, yeah, all these things now are very special to me“.
