It’s like pondering a good book before the last chapter is written, especially as Williams is penning an epic tale that doesn’t appear set to end anytime soon.

Williams says the reason for her success at an age when most players are fading comes in part from working with coach Patrick Mouratoglou. “That’s how I’m going to handle it”.
Serena Williams has a lot riding on her next U.S. Open, which kicks off next Monday. She has won the Australian Open two times before, but never the U.S. Open. “I’m just here to perform and do the best I can”.

“I always feel there is another record to be broken or another person to catch up with”.
Top-ranked Serena Williams played down the history at stake for her in this year’s US Open but admitted Thursday that she is on the verge of realizing her childhood dream.
Since the upset by Stephens in early 2013, Williams has lost just once to a countrywoman – to Venus more than a year ago.
“If I make it far, maybe I’ll start to feel pressure, but as of now, I really don’t feel any”.
If the pressure takes its toll and she plays poorly, the door opens for an upset.
In addition to 2011 champion Djokovic of Serbia and Switzerland’s Federer (2004-08), former winners include Andy Murray (2012), Rafael Nadal (2010, 13) and last year’s victor, Marin Cilic of Croatia.

Williams must navigate a heavily American quarter of the draw including sister Venus to complete a calendar sweep of the four grand slams, while two sensational quarter-finals loom on the men’s side. She could provide the spark needed to catch the attention of all the young athletes who overlook tennis and opt for another sport.
