The evergreen Serena Williams can not picture an end date for her illustrious career after breaking another record at the US Open.

Serena Williams stormed into the US Open quarter-finals in record-smashing style on Monday by easing past Kazakhstan’s Yaroslava Shvedova 6-2 6-3 to claim her record 308th grand slam match win.

“I think it just comes from a different place of the just love and really enjoying it”, Williams, 34, said of her longevity. “I think it’s really exciting”.

“Hopefully Roger is going to keep playing and I know I am, so hopefully we can keep winning a few more“. “That’s something that I’m really proud of”, she said according to wtatennis.com.

Williams hit a tournament-leading 126 miles per hour serve, pounded 11 aces, won 28 of 30 points when a first serve landed in, and didn’t face a break point against the 52nd-ranked Shvedova. On Tuesday, world number two Angelique Kerber – who toppled Williams in the Australian Open final and who has a chance to end the American’s reign atop the world rankings here – takes on Roberta Vinci.

Williams will have a day off before tackling Simona Halep after the fifth-seeded Romanian’s 6-2, 7-5 victory over Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro.

Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka, the 2015 French Open champion, also progressed by cruising to a 6-4, 6-1, 6-7 win over Illya Marchenko of Ukraine.

SERENA WILLIAMS is now the winningest player in the history of Grand Slam tennis. The strategy paid off, as Williams won seven of her eight points at the net.

Radwanska could face Williams in the semifinals, though she has to reach the quarterfinals first. Incredibly, Serena has faced one break point in her four matches. Serena won comfortably, 6-4, 6-3.

Del Potro had led Dominic Thiem 6-3 3-2 when the Austrian retired with a knee injury.

Croatian teenager Ana Konjuh stunned fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4, 6-4 on Monday, avenging a bitter Wimbledon disappointment and reaching the women’s singles quarterfinals of the US Open.

Meanwhile Andy Murray made easy work of Grigor Dimitrov 6-1 6-2 6-2 this morning to storm into the quarter-finals.
