US PGA Championship 2016: Lightning causes third round delay
The third round of the US PGA Championship at Baltusrol, New Jersey, was called off because of the threat of lightning. “We feel it’s important for all the players, in an ideal world, to play from the first tee and play the holes in order”.

British Open champion Henrik Stenson of Sweden: “You’ve just got to get some good sleep and make sure you eat enough and drink enough, plenty during the day, because it will be a long day”.
Jimmy Walker sank a birdie putt on No. 18 to reclaim the solo lead at 11-under-par 199 after completing a weather-delayed, third-round 68 Sunday at the 98th PGA Championship on the Lower Course at Baltusrol Golf Club. The final round for those who finished up on Saturday was set to begin at 8:40 a.m., with the leaders teeing off at 3:25 p.m. after completing their third rounds.
While no one is alleging the 7,462-yard Lower Course at Baltusrol is easy, a chorus of golfers have said that the wet weather has de-fanged the course’s most formidable defense: hard, slick greens.
Meanwhile, Kevin Kisner is the clubhouse leader on five under after hitting a 65.
With a cranky shoulder and such limited playing time, expectations were tempered heading into Baltusrol, but Beem – who now works as a commentator for Sky Sports – went even-par through the first two rounds to make the cut.
The 2005 PGA Championship and the 1993 U.S. Open ended on Monday because of rain.
Otherwise, another Monday finish loomed, and that was only part of the unpredictable nature of this PGA Championship.
Watson finished right where he started Saturday: even par.
Grace also birdied the 13th to close the gap to a single shot, but three-putted the 16th and did well to save par on the last after driving into the water on the par five.
Tee to green was good, but it was just pathetic when I got onto the green.
Rain was still falling at soggy Baltusrol as the final round rolled on, but that did not hold back three-times major victor Padraig Harrington. “And that’s exactly what we got”, Haigh said.
“They were so smooth, they were pure and they were really nice to putt on”, Jordan Spieth said Friday.
The three players in front played their entire third round in the morning as the tournament played catch up after heavy rains forced a suspension of the third round on Saturday. “They’ve really gone up a lot since the British [Open], and since I started to play at that level, that I’m kind of forcing the issue rather than letting it happen the way I did there [at Royal Troon]”.
Despite missing the last month with ligament damage in his ankle, Brooks Koepka shot a bogey-free four-under 66 – his third straight round in the 60s – to get to nine-under.
Players were to be texted Saturday evening for their fourth-round tee time.

“I’ve been shooting such low scores in preparation that I thought I was going to come out and light this thing up”, said Mickelson.
