The United Nations has banned North Korea from testing any kind of ballistic missile technology, but that hasn’t stopped the country.
The council last adopted a statement condemning North Korea for two medium-range missile tests on Jun 23.
North Korea fired two intermediate-range missiles simultaneously, but one appeared to explode on takeoff.
A man passes by as a TV news shows an image of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un published Thursday in North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun newspaper, at Seoul Railway Station in Seoul, South Korea, Thursday, June 23, 2016. After several failures, the North put its first satellite into space aboard a long-range rocket in December 2012, and conducted another successful satellite launch in February.
Japan’s defence ministry said the missile landed inside Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
To better defend against North Korea’s increasing missile capabilities, Washington and Seoul plan to deploy an advanced missile defense shield in South Korea.
According to reports, the main body of the missile landed in Japan’s economic exclusion zone, escalating regional tensions that were already high after futile negotiations with North Korea regarding missile launches. Anna Richey-Allen, of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs said the tests build resolve in the worldwide community to counter North Korea.
The missile was launched from an area in North Korea’s South Hwanghae province, in the country’s southwest.
Japan’s prime minister called North Korea’s actions an “unforgivable act of violence”. “We immediately launched a strong protest against North Korea and condemned (the launch) in the strongest language” through diplomatic channels, he said. North Korea most recently tested Nodong missiles in mid-July.
– May 31: South Korea identifies another launch attempt that likely failed, speculated to be a Musudan missile.
“Obviously by now, what they’re doing is not just separate, random missile tests”.
For the first time, North Korea fired a ballistic missile near Japanese-controlled waters on Tuesday.
It later said that the launches were part of an exercise simulating preemptive strikes against South Korea n ports and airfields used by the US military.
“Nothing should be done to exacerbate tension on the Korean Peninsula”, said Liu.
The two Koreas are technically in a state of war because their 1950-53 conflict ended in an armistice-not a peace treaty.

Asked about Donald Trump’s comment that he would be “willing” to consider withdrawing USA troops from South Korea, Ryol said he didn’t know whether Trump said it “to be famous or more popular in the campaign, but what matters is actions”. About 28,500 USA troops are stationed in South Korea.
