US President hopefuls begin New Hampshire campaigns after Iowa shocks

Yet in the latest poll from UMass/7-News, Trump has a 24 point lead in the New Hampshire GOP race. “And someone that can bring this country together”, Santorum said while announcing to drop out of the presidential race following his poor performance in the Iowa Caucuses and extending support to Rubio.

The poll, which comes out daily, showed Rubio gained three percentage points overnight and seven since his strong third place finish in the Iowa caucuses Monday. She contrasted them with Republican administrations and candidates. While Sanders gets 61 per cent in the poll and Clinton gets 32 per cent. Only five percent of voters remain undecided, the poll said.

The Public Policy Polling survey could also lend credence to many Rubio supporters’ argument that he could be the Republican establishment’s best option to take down Trump and Cruz, whose potential nominations have unnerved many in the party’s mainstream.

Donald Trump has been relatively mum since losing the Iowa Caucuses to Ted Cruz on Monday (technically, he came in second, but you know what Trump says about people who come in second). Cruz apologized to Carson on Tuesday for his campaign not sending out updates that Carson was doing laundry and not dropping out. “That is why all of the polls were so wrong any[sic] why he got far more votes than anticipated”. Cruz said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday: “That was a mistake on our part and, as I said, my respect and admiration for Ben could not be higher”.

“I might have been hurt a little”, Trump said, “by not being at the debate”. “Donald trump guaranteed a victory in Iowa and then he lost, and he doesn’t like that”.

“I have no interest in responding and do not intend to respond”, Cruz said.

“I understand that Donald finds it very hard to lose, that he finds that very difficult to him”, Cruz continued.

As for Trump’s claims that Cruz lied about Trump’s positions, the First Amendment gives candidates a lot of leeway in making claims about their rivals, and proof of a blatant lie wouldn’t be enough to force a new election, Foley said.
