US President Obama unveils regulations to combat climate change
By 2018, states will be forced to report to the Environmental Protection Agency about the steps they’ll take to meet their emissions reduction targets, and their first reductions will need to be made by 2022.

However, not everyone agrees with the plan.
A reason the Clean Power Plan is focused on producing energy with less greenhouse gases.
Pruitt has said the new EPA rules are unconstitutional.
“We’re a little bit ahead of the game, but at the same time we’re a little bit behind the game because of our reliance on coal”, Miller said. “We look forward to working with our states in the best interest of our customers, ensuring we continue to meet their expectations for clean, reliable and affordable power“. Many states, however, have threatened not to comply.
Environmental groups, clean air advocates and the electric utility industry in New Jersey on different levels embraced the Obama administration’s sweeping plans to get fossil fuel-fired power plants to cut back on emissions.
And of course both sides of the political aisle are reacting to the president’s plan and it’s clear he will have a long tough fight to try to get it approved.
In an effort to eradicate climate issues for future generations, President Obama is steadfast not only in expressing the dire necessity for the plan, but on emphasizing its longevity.
Some state officials who oppose the rule have said they are considering not submitting a plan at all to the EPA.
Conservative critics of the president’s plan, such as those at the Heritage Foundation think tank in Washington, argue that “the U.S. could cut its Carbon dioxide emissions 100 percent and it would not make a difference in global warming”.
“The Plan is an example of the visionary leadership necessary to reduce emissions and to tackle climate change”, Ban’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
Elliot said he believes the EPA’s plan is a win-win for the economy and environment on every level, with companies likely to turn to energy efficiency measures as the state offers incentives to reach compliance.
The state can choose whether to have carbon emissions measured by rate (as in, the pounds of CO2 emitted for each megawatt hour of electricity produced) or by mass (the total tons of carbon dioxide produced).
“There is such a thing as being too late when it comes to climate change”.
At the White House, President Obama called his Clean Power Plan to… It will also give states credit for any solar or wind projects that take off before the rule is implemented in the year 2022.

“So if you have changing weather patterns in, let’s say, the Indian Subcontinent, and the monsoon rains shift, suddenly you could have millions of people whose crops completely fail”, Obama said.
