While some work on their 1040, voices today are calling for President Donald Trump to release his. He said during the 2016 campaign that he would release them once the audits were over.
Protesters say they will continue to march until they see change and hope more people join the movement.
Rob Wilcox of Eden Prairie also called for transparency.
Trump tax returns leaked to The New York Times last fall showed a $916 million loss in 1995.
Two of the biggest marches took place in NY and Los Angeles, with each drawing an estimated 5,000 people. It was part of a national protest in 150 cities. When pressed on the issue as president, he’s said he doesn’t think most Americans care.
About 250 to 300 people gathered Saturday afternoon at a Tax Day rally in Alton Baker Park then marched through downtown Eugene. He carried a sign that read: “What Tax Returns?”
In Berkeley, California, police said more than 10 were arrested after participants at a “Patriot’s Day” rally clashed with demonstrators from an anti-fascist counter protest. He won’t release his taxes.
“We know that our elected officials not only do they not pony up their fair share, but they brag about it”, Pruveadenti said.
“We’re marching on Washington, D.C., and around the country to ask Donald Trump: WHAT ARE YOU HIDING?” the organizers say on their website. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., said there’s nothing that prevents the president for releasing his taxes but, “The simple truth is he’s got a lot to hide.” Sen.
The march aims to push Trump to release his tax returns because Americans deserve to know about the president’s business and potential conflicts of interests.
In a Quinnipiac University poll released on April 4, more than two-thirds of the respondents said Trump should publicly release his tax returns.
“Until he does, we’ll never know what he’s hiding or who his policies are created to benefit”.
Protests were planned for 150 cities across the country including Los Angeles, Washington D.C, and in Florida near Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, where he was spending the weekend.
Trump is the first major party nominee in more than 40 years not to release his tax returns, saying it was because he was under audit. “We march to bring awareness”. But Trump’s full returns would contain key details about things like his charitable giving, his income sources, the type of deductions he claimed, how much he earned from his assets and what strategies Trump used to reduce his tax bill.
In fact, Saturday is also the eighth anniversary of hundreds of Tax Day protests that marked the emergence of the Republican-aligned Tea Party. “He needs transparency. He’s President of the United States of America and it’s very important to be transparent”.
In response to Trump’s assertions that his taxes are of little concern to most people, Hughes was adamant.

Comedy writer Frank Lesser, whose tweet in January sparked the idea for the Tax March, said the participation in the nationwide marches proves that people want to see Trump’s returns. “Now it’s up to him”, she said.
