US Retrieves Massive Cache of ISIS Intelligence From Manbij Front Line
United Nations envoy Staffan de Mistura said he was not consulted on the proposal, which was first announced Thursday by the Russian defense ministry.

The attack happened in al-Ghandour near Manbij, just one day after the US announced a formal inquiry into airstrikes in the same area that may have led to the single largest loss of civilian life due to coalition airstrikes in Syria.
The strikes came a day after the coalition opened a formal investigation to determine whether its air strikes last week near Manbij claimed more than 100 civilian lives including children.
A Central Command release stated the Operation Inherent Resolve coalition conducted 19 airstrikes near Manbij on Thursday that struck 19 Islamic State group tactical units and destroyed 17 fighting positions, a heavy machine gun and two vehicles.
“We have seen Da’esh using more civilians as human shields in the Manbij area”, Garver told The Guardian, using an alternate name for ISIS.
U.S. Central Command released the results of several casualty assessments Thursday showing that at least 14 civilians were killed and one was injured in six separate U.S. airstrikes from July 28 a year ago through April in Iraq and Syria.
Another allegation is from July 23 of a strike in the village of al-Nawaja, located to the east of Manbij, Garver said.
Manbij served as a key receiving area for foreign fighters on their arrival. “You need popular and well-placed pressure to try and change the policies and behaviour of big powers in war, without that seems very unlikely they will be held to account”, Sammonds said.
The SDF forces have denied reports that dozens of civilians were killed by the US-led coalition airstrikes last week, and have said that only ISIS fighters were targeted in those raids.
Carter broadly outlined the USA -led coalition’s strategy for recapturing Mosul.
He added that the credibility assessment into this airstrike continues.
This was the first time American forces accompanied the Iraqi army closer to the front lines of battle since U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said in April that they would be allowed to do so. It is not known if those 13 are civilians or members of Isis, which has been fending off ground and air attacks for more than two months from the U.S. and its Syrian allies.

After the Manbij bombardment, Amnesty International urged the coalition to redouble its efforts to prevent civilian deaths and to investigate possible violations of international humanitarian law.
