US, Russia Close on Syria Deal, But Obama Says Not There Yet
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his United States counterpart Barack Obama that their countries continue to maintain a “model partnership”, but called for a unified stance against the existence of the PKK/PYD in northern Syria.

Obama was beginning his day of talks as his Secretary of State John Kerry was working to reach a deal on ending violence in Syria.
The U.S. backs some of the rebel groups against Assad, considering them relative moderates.
According to the ministry, the sides discussed “further steps to assist in resolving the conflict in Syria, including the task of consolidating the cessation of hostilities and the Russian-US cooperation in the fight against terrorist groups”.
