US Senator Elizabeth Warren expected to endorse Hillary Clinton

Obama, who enjoys rising approval ratings as he nears the end of eight years in office, will appear with Clinton on the campaign trail next week in Wisconsin.

As she claimed ownership of the Democratic presidential nomination on Tuesday evening, Hillary Clinton knew she had to appeal to supporters of Bernie Sanders, the insurgent whose campaign attracted millions of young voters. “That’s why I know Hillary will be so good at it. I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office”.

Major fundraisers got face time with Hillary Clinton on Friday as the now-presumptive Democratic nominee begins her general election campaign.

Shortly before news of the endorsement was released, Clinton told NPR’s Tamara Keith, “Well, I’m thrilled that the president has endorsed me. He wants four more years of Obama-but nobody else does”, Trump previously tweeted.

In his video endorsement Mr Obama also praised Mrs Clinton for “the decision we made in the Situation Room to get Bin Laden”.

And earlier Thursday, Clinton herself refused to rule out picking Warren as her running mate, a choice that would double-down on the historic nature of her campaign as well as attempt to bring in Sanders’ progressive supporters.

Afterwards, Mr Sanders refused to drop out immediately, saying he would continue to contest the final primary vote in Washington DC next week.

As many saw on the TV networks, Senator Bernie Sanders, standing with his wife, Jane, at his side spoke to reporters on the West Wing driveway after his meeting with President Obama. Her late and somewhat sputtering victory set off a fresh round of private phone calls and back-channel negotiations, all aimed at sussing out Sanders’ demands, easing him out of the race without angering his die-hard supporters and putting the full-court press on Trump.

MSNBC confirmed Thursday afternoon that the MA senator will confer her long-awaited backing Thursday night on network’s The Rachel Maddow Show.

Trump said in an interview with Reuters last month that he would try to dismantle the Dodd-Frank law.

Clinton’s next move? Stating that so-called “women’s issues” will in fact be central to her campaign messaging in a speech given today at an event for Planned Parenthood. “I have seen her judgment, I have seen her toughness up close”.

Sanders said he and the former Secretary of State would speak soon about how to “work together” to defeat Trump.
