US strongly supports India’s NSG bid: Obama tells Modi
“The time has come to isolate sanction this instigator”, said Modi who was attending the 14th India-Asean Summit and the 11th East Asia Summit in Vientiane, Laos.

“The issue will be raised because of its direct links with incidents of terrorism in Pakistan”, he said.
It seems apparent that Modi is not likely to pass up an opportunity to target Pakistan at global forums with India deciding to adopt a muscular response to Islamabad’s bid to internationalise violent protests in Kashmir.
Addressing the summits, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed the delight at the strong and extensive development of ASEAN’s relations with the partners.
During the meeting, Obama also praised Modi’s vision of entrepreneurship and innovation, which he said would be “very important for a country like India”.
“All three pillars of our partnership security, economic and socio-cultural have registered good progress, ” he said, adding that engagement of India-ASEAN is of “economic optimism”.
“Constructing the arc of a new Asian Century”.
The two leaders reported to have reviewed immediate priorities in the strategic partnership and cooperation in several areas including climate change, nuclear energy, solar energy and innovation.
“President Obama praised Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives to reform the Indian economy”.
“India supports freedom of navigation, over flight, and unimpeded commerce, based on the principles of worldwide law, as noted in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea”, the Prime Minister said. He also condemned the recent suicide bombing on the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, once again focussing on his key issue of terror and using it to point out that China is as much a victim as India.
The Prime Minister in Laos held talks with leaders of Japan, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar, and also met US President Barack Obama.
Last year, Obama had cancelled a planned trip to the Taj Mahal, cutting short his visit to India to travel to Saudi Arabia following King Abdullah’s death.
Mr Modi did not name the country he spoke about, but India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of exporting terrorism, especially in divided territory of Kashmir over which the two countries have twice gone to war since they split some 67 years ago.
