US Supreme Court blocks Obama immigration order
Pro-immigration activists gathered in front of the Supreme Court after the vote, some crying as the decision was made public. “And now four million undocumented parents live under the threat of deportation, and these are people who have no record, who are simply trying to live, work and survive in this country”.

Twenty-six states, led by Texas, challenged the order in district and federal courts.
Immigration advocates are denouncing the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling Thursday on immigration policy. Republicans in Congress have refused to accept Obama’s pick for the top court to fill the vacancy left by the death of conservative justice Antonin Scalia in February.
Today’s Supreme Court decision upheld the lower courts’ injunction. No legal precedent was set by the procedural tie, but Mr. Obama’s legacy was doomed.
“This is a win for the Constitution”. The separation of powers exists for a reason. “Presidents doesn’t write laws, the Congress writes law”. Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump’s campaign has focused on controlling illegal immigration, and he put out a statement slamming Obama’s order. The Administration was looking for validation on their plan to begin implementing it before a new president is inaugurated. “Individuals who would have been eligible for DAPA (Differed Action for Parent of Americans) should consult a competent immigration attorney and see what other options are available to them”.
Councilwoman Heather H. Howard said Thursday that the town might have an information session to help the local immigrant population understand the impact of Thursday’s ruling.
The Court also ruled in favor of affirmative action supporters.
Now, the case will be sent back to the Texas court to determine whether and how to proceed.
“The university has been arguing that it needs to be able to consider race to fill the remaining slots in its freshman class to have a truly diverse student body”, said Howe.

Texas top government officials praised the ruling. It also means millions of parents will have to continue working in the US shadow economy, millions of employers will continue employing their workers illegally, and the worker protections and labor rights of all low income workers will continue to be undermined by our dysfunctional immigration system.
