The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch on Saturday for 49 counties in Texas, including Dallas County, the state’s second most populous after Harris County.

Meteorologists earlier warned about tornado threat in ten U.S. states.
Tornadoes that swept through the Dallas area caused substantial damage and at least 11 people died either from the storm or related traffic accidents and dozens of people were injured. Three people were found in a auto submerged in a creek, according to officials in Tennessee.
The same can’t be said for the parts of Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas, who, on Wednesday, suffered severe storms, flooding, and an exceptionally long-lasting tornado. In Perry County, Annie Yzaguirre, 69, and Antonio Gomez Yzaguirre, 70, died, interim Sheriff Nick Weems told NBC News. Up to 15 homes were damaged in McNairy County, the state emergency management office said.
People are recovering after the bad storms hit.
Another person was killed in Arkansas.
The storms left homes had roofs blown away, vehicles mangled or turned upside down, churches damaged, power lines down, natural gas lines burst, trees toppled and debris strewn across neighborhoods.
She said: “We’re OK and that’s all that matters”.
With about 100 million Americans expected to travel over the Christmas holidays, the National Weather Service forecast isolated severe thunderstorms from the mid-Atlantic region to the Gulf Coast and record warmth to NY.
Its public information officer said: “Most of these storms caused a lot of damage in north MS, but our teams are out assessing the damage, trying to put a quantity on how many homes and how many businesses have been damaged”. The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency said Saturday that authorities were monitoring areas for possible flooding.
Concrete blocks from the foundation of the home of Antonio Yzaguirre, and his wife, Ann Yzaguirre, show where the house once stood, Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, after severe storms went through the area Wednesday night near Linden, Tennessee. was killed in the storm. The couple, who’d just celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary, died in the storm.
“You kind of stop and realize what Christmas is all about”, Perkins said.
In Benton County, Mississippi, where at least two deaths occurred and at least two people were missing, crews were searching house-by-house to make sure residents were accounted for. The only part of the house that appeared to be spared was the master bathroom, where her brother-in-law took shelter Saturday night.
Peak tornado season in the South is in the spring, but such storms can happen at any time.
