US Veteran Charged With 11-Year-Old Boy’s Murder

Authorities have said it appears there’s no connection between Jackson and the boy. “It was senseless, it was brutal, it was cold blooded, and someone needs to pay the price for it”, Turner said. Mayor Turner, along with acting Houston Police Department Chief Martha Montalvo and Harris County DA Devon Anderson held a press conference this morning to discuss the case.

On Thursday, June 2, 2016, Andre Jackson walked into a game room off N. Main just a few blocks from where the 11-year-old boy was attacked.

Jackson is accused of stabbing sixth-grader Josue Flores as the boy walked home from school on May 17.

The suspect, Andre Jackson, who was discharged from the Marines in 2011 was arrested Friday afternoon at a homeless shelter where he was living. The Salvation Army says it can not comment about Jackson due to client confidentiality. The man was said to be wearing black trousers and a green jacket, was about 6 feet tall and weighed around 200 pounds. Investigators said the person in the video matches the description of the suspect seen running four minutes after Josue’s murder. Jackson had the jacket with him when he was arrested, McGalin added.

Questioned Saturday about how he was sure the right man has been arrested, McGalin said that Jackson’s alibi could not be verified and that he “provided a statement that corroborated a lot of things we knew to be true and led us to believe we have the right guy”.

Witnesses described hearing loud screaming and seeing a man and the boy struggle before Josue collapsed and the suspect fled, according to Houston police. The boy was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds but died at the hospital, police said. We pieced it together.
