US warns Russia against interfering with Western politics

Brexit will not change “at all” the UK’s close military alliance with the United States, the country’s defence secretary Ash Carter has said. “I am confident the US and the United Kingdom will now focus on the future, and that is what I am doing”.

The secretary and minister discussed Turkey’s recent successes against ISIL in Northern Syria, said Cook, adding that Carter assured Işık of the United States’ continued support for Turkey’s efforts to clear ISIL from its borders.

It also said Carter had assured his Turkish counterpart of continued US support for Turkey’s efforts to clear Daesh from its borders.

He went on to claim that Russian Federation is driven by “misplaced fears”, adding that the USA doesn’t seek to defeat them militarily or constrain them in any way.

Turkish forces’ Operation Euphrates Shield began August 24 when the Free Syria Army, backed by the Turkish military, liberated Jarabulus in northern Syria.

“We will counter attempts to undermine our collective security and will not ignore attempts to interfere with our democratic (voting) processes”. But make no mistake: “we will defend our allies, the principled global order, and the positive future it affords all of us”, Carter said.

Carter highlighted two primary challenges during his speech: a more aggressive Russian Federation that seeks to “erode the worldwide order” and the threat of terrorism as the Islamic State group metastasizes.

Chang, also a Chinese state councilor, said that his country is willing to deepen mutual understanding and political trust with the new British government, expand cooperation and exchanges in various areas and levels so as to make new progress in the bilateral strategy coordination and pragmatic cooperation.

A good place to start would be for Russian Federation, an ally of Syria, to help the USA take the necessary steps to achieve a ceasefire and political transition in that country, he added. Moscow, however, has repeatedly denied any intent to challenge North Atlantic Treaty Organisation territory and has criticized the USA for its growing presence in the Baltics and Poland, saying it threatens Russia’s tiny enclave of Kaliningrad.

Carter noted that the USA hasn’t had to worry about deterrence in Eastern Europe for more than 25 years.
