An American aid worker Kayla Mueller who was kidnapped by Islamic State terrorists in Syria was reportedly raped by the self styled emir of the dreaded terrorist organization that controls half of Syria and Iraq.

On multiple occasions, al-Baghdadi returned to the home where Mueller was imprisoned to sexually assault her, the officials told ABC News. U.S. officials confirmed the death but not the circumstances.

‘We were told Kayla was tortured, that she was the property of al-Baghdadi.

Umm Sayyaf has been turned over to the Iraqi Kurds for trial. IS claimed she was killed in a Jordanian air strike near Raqqa.

Ms Mueller, whose death was confirmed in February, is said to have been kept by Islamic State financier Abu Sayyaf and his wife, Umm Sayyaf. Shortly before her death, Mueller penned a letter to her family expressing her continued faith in God and asserting that she was “in a safe location, completely unharmed [and] healthy”.

US officials told ABC News that they had received the information from various sources, including two young Yazidi girls who were held for two months in the same house as Mueller in the Syrian town of al-Shadadiya.

He is said to have regularly visited the compound where she was being held. Kayla found this work heartbreaking but compelling; she was extremely devoted to the people of Syria. She returned home to Arizona in 2011, and worked for one year at an HIV/AIDS clinic while volunteering at a women’s shelter at night.

Afterward, Mueller, who had learned some Arabic while in captivity, would tell her fellow captives – sometimes tearfully – what had happened, the AP reported.

The fresh revelations about Mueller’s ordeal shatter rumors that she cooperated or was a willing spouse, which had deeply upset her family, ABC said.

Following Umm Sayyaf’s handover, KRG Judicial Council Spokesman Umed Mohsin said, “We will sentence her based on fair and legal measures”, adding that she will be tried according to KRG’s anti-terrorism law, and all her due process rights will be protected.

Ms Mueller’s parents said they first thought she had become the sex slave of a man known as Abu Sayyaf, a Tunisian ISIS figure killed in a US raid in May.
