Defending his title as politics’ No. 1 feminist hunk in the wake of the election of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President Obama honored the USA women’s national soccer team at the White House on Tuesday.
While talking about the importance of women’s sports and how this team inspired the whole country, he used a term that may have caused a few jaws to drop.
The president took the opportunity to praise the team on their dominance and for showing American children that playing like a girl is a good thing.
During the ceremony, Obama also shut down everyone would dare use the phrase “you play like a girl” as an insult.
“Playing like a girl means being the best”, Obama said.
American professional soccer midfielder for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Carli Anne Lloyd will speak on Monday at Southeast Missouri State University.
“That’s what American women do”, Obama said. “I think that was the highlight of the day”, said Ashlyn Harris. We are very, very proud of them.
Obama singled out midfielder Carli Lloyd, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player after scoring three goals in the final. “What’s another candidate in the mix?” he said. “I guarantee you Carli knows more about being president than a few of the folks who are running”.
All in all, it was pretty cool.
After the event, the team crowded onto the balcony of the South Portico to see the president’s departure on Marine One. I mean, I thought I was cool a few years ago when somebody made a bust of me out of butter.

Lloyd will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 3, at the school’s Show Me Center as part of the 2015-2016 speaker series.
