But it wasn’t all good news and gold for Team USA.

The Australians gave the United States men’s basketball team all they could handle, but Team USA came away with a 98-88 victory at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday.
Missy Franklin, who had qualified second in the 200 free at USA trials six weeks ago, did not get to swim the final, adding to a disappointing week for the darling of the London Games.
Team USA will return to action on Friday against Serbia (1-2), who lost a heart-breaker, 76-75, to France (2-1) earlier today when Bogdan Bogdanovic misfired on a three-point attempt at the buzzer after San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker had connected on a go-ahead jump shot with under one minute to play.
Just one day after the US women’s gymnastic’s team took home gold in the team finals, the men’s individual all-around finals will be held.
