“We believe active transmissions of Zika are still only occurring in an area in Miami that is less than one square mile”, Scott said in a statement today.

There have been no cases of Zika virus transmitted through mosquitoes in the state of Ohio.
In its daily Zika Virus Update report, the Florida Department of Health confirmed a total of 10 new travel-related cases statewide on Friday.
The World Health Organization included the occurrence of “congenital malformation associated with a travel-related case of Zika virus infection” in its weekly Zika update. Tom Moran, Program Manager for the Delaware Mosquito Control Sections Northern Office, says it is essential that people are made aware of the risk and do their part in helping battle the potentially deadly virus. The CDC recommends pregnant women consider postponing travel to areas where Zika virus transmission is ongoing.
The Puerto Rican government can now apply for funding in hiring and training workers who can stem the spread of Zika-carrying mosquitoes and to educate the public on ways they can help, like identifying breeding ground.
Zika was first detected past year in Brazil, where it has taken its heaviest toll so far, and has spread rapidly through Latin America and the Caribbean.
Florida Department of Health in DeSoto County Preparedness Planner and Safety Coordinator Pamela A. Crain, who also covers Highlands County, noted some of the Zika efforts by her agency.
On Monday, Scott directed the Florida Department of Health, the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Board of Governors to partner together to provide critical Zika prevention guidance and resources to students, parents, educators and district leaders across the state. “Nevertheless, we are trying to develop a cure for that percentage that does get Zika-related microcephaly”, said study corresponding co-author Zhen Zhao.
Rebecca Gilman said it is Canada’s second case of maternal-to-fetal transmission of the virus, which has been linked to serious birth defects that include microcephaly, where babies are born with abnormally small heads and underdeveloped brains to mothers who were infected while pregnant.
The first two babies born in the state with Zika-caused microcephaly, or abnormally small heads, were reported August 4.
Rius said 90 people have been hospitalized because of the virus. The duo discussed Zika with people living in the area, including several pregnant woman.

What the department’s statement did focus on was how the department says it is a “model for Zika Response”.
