USA designates North Korea ‘primary money laundering concern’

The U.S. later lifted that restriction to facilitate nuclear talks with North Korea, but the stigma it created meant most banks have since avoided transactions with the North Korea even when they are not expressly banned.

After a three-hour meeting on Wednesday, South Korea’s Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Hong-kyun reaffirmed that the aim of North Korea’s denuclearization is the underlying premise for holding any dialogue with the regime.
