Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will reach Washington on October 20 for a White House meeting with United States President Obama on October 22.

But a civil nuclear deal just like the one with India is unlikely “to come to fruition” when Sharif comes calling to meet Obama subsequent week, his Press Secretary Josh Earnest advised reporters right here Thursday. “And I would anticipate that that dialogue would include conversations between the leaders of our two countries”. Khalilullah said that the Prime Minister will brief the United States leadership on Pakistan’s policies for the revival of the economy, fight against terrorism and the regional situation.
Writing in Forbes, University of Baltimore School of Law Professor Charles Tiefer said, Sharif’s “visit may bring to a head the secret U.S.- Pakistan talks, just now made publicly known, dealing with Pakistan’s consideration of deploying tactical nuclear weapons among its army facing India”.
The United States has confirmed that the United States is working toward a nuclear accord with Pakistan to limit its arsenal, the White House said Thursday.
“We are in regular contact with the government of Pakistan on a range of issues as we prepare for the visit on October 22 of Prime Minister Sharif”.
Pakistan today said it was concerned about the spate of threats and attacks on public events in India involving a few of its most prominent nationals, leaving New Delhi defensive on a subject that has traditionally been among Islamabad’s weakest suits.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China in May this year, the Sino-Indian joint statement had an interesting sentence: “The Chinese side took note of India’s aspirations to become a member of the NSG, in a bid to strengthen global non-proliferation efforts”.
“I think it’s worth a try, but I have my doubts that the Pakistanis are capable of doing this”. Speaking about the Okara by-election, he said that the surety bonds of the PTI candidate were confiscated while the contest was between two Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates. He said he had asked Maulana Fazlur Rehman to take back his resolution in the assembly against the PTI, as “his government believes in the way forward”.

Evidently, no lessons have been learned from that era despite Pakistan’s extensive proliferation even in the post 9/11 years compounded by its patronage of terrorism, say Indian officials, who quickly opposed any prospective deal soon after news of the dialogue broke last week.
