USA gun advocate mum shot by 4-year-old

Putnam County Sheriff’s spokesman Joseph Wells says 31-year-old Gilt owns the.45-caliber gun the boy fired from the back seat of the truck on Tuesday afternoon. The woman behind the wheel, later identified as Jamie Gilt, of Jacksonville, told the deputy that she had been shot while driving.

A four-year-old boy has accidentally shot his mother, media reports said on Thursday.

When he slowed down to investigate, a woman in the driver’s seat motioned him over as though she needed help.

“Those questions centre around how is the firearm secured?” Her son, who was unhurt, was reportedly staying with relatives.

How the child managed to gain access to the gun is a matter of investigation, but no charges have been filed yet.

Worth noting: Jamie has since made her Facebook page private.

Before she went into the emergency room, the statement notes, Gilt told police that she’d been shot by her son. She is also a gun enthusiast who apparently ran a Facebook page called “Jamie Gilt For Gun Sense”, and posted a picture of her rose gold gun on Twitter.

The site appeared to have been taken down Wednesday. “Even my 4-year-old gets jacked up to target shoot the.22”. After approaching the vehicle, the deputy realized that Gilt had been shot.

According the Times Union, the responding deputy noticed the boy was not strapped to the booster seat in the vehicle when he arrived at the scene.

In comments posted March 7 to one post on the page, a user named Jamie Gilt wrote: “I can promise though, if someone breaks into my house, or tries to harm me or my family pretty anywhere, they will be shot and most likely killed”.

The mother and boy were on their way to pick up a horse, said police, who rushed to Ms Gilt’s aid after a police officer slowed to check why the vehicle had stopped. The victim was transported to University of Florida Health in Gainesville and was last reported to be in stable condition’.
