USA repeats show of nuclear force over SKorea
North Korea has ignored global condemnation of its fifth nuclear test on September 9, and this week said it had successfully tested a new rocket engine that would be used to launch satellites, again in violation of United Nations sanctions.

North Korea condemned the armed action, branding the mobilised the B-1 Lancer strategic bombers “ill-famed nuclear killing tools”.
Get breaking news right in your inbox. He said that the “Hiroshima-sized explosion” September 9 made clear that Pyongyang poses an “existential threat” to its USA -allied southern neighbor and a growing menace to the world.
In February, the North launched a satellite that was widely seen as a test of long-range ballistic missile technology. Videos of such flyovers appear in North Korean propaganda as evidence of us hostility, the AP notes.
On Jan. 10, four days after the North’s fourth nuclear test, the USA flew a B-52 bomber over South Korea.
An official source stated on Tuesday that South Korea will receive two B-52 bombers from the United States this week, proving its strong dedication to its main Asian ally amidst the growing threats from North Korea. Given that only one missile can be mounted on a mobile launch pad, the allies’ can effectively undermine the North’s missile capability with a pre-emptive strike against such mobile pads.
Such flyovers are common when animosity rises on the Korean Peninsula, which is technically in a state of war because the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.
The announcement comes on the heels of two demonstrations of military unity between the USA and South Korea against the Kim Jong Un regime.
But Beijing has been increasingly frustrated by Pyongyang’s defiance of global sanctions to press ahead with its nuclear tests.
On Tuesday in NY, U.S. President Barack Obama urged the United Nations General Assembly to take action against North Korea, claiming that Pyongyang’s latest nuclear test “endangers all of us”. Yet Kim has doggedly pursued a dual strategy of seeking economic growth while developing nuclear weapons, with some apparent success.
Pyongyang’s responses have not deterred the United States. He said the restrictions were starting to bite.
“They say that they are closely monitoring North Korea, for any signs of further provocations”.
