“I will go there soon, at a few point appropriately, and try to work to reengage and see if we can’t move that away from this precipice”, Kerry said Tuesday at the meeting with the Harvard University students. “Most people I talk to have a pretty damn good sense of what has to be done”. “We are in regular contact with the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority”, he said.
U.S. State Department Spokesman John Kirby condemned on Tuesday the terror attacks in Jerusalem and central Israel.
Kerry called on all persons of responsibility to condemn the violence on either side, and to avoid provocative statements that can inflame the tensions even further.
Kerry said the United States’ goal for the region, the two-state solution, “could conceivably be stolen from everybody” if violence were to spiral out of control.
Twin attacks in Jerusalem on Tuesday morning took the lives of three Israelis, and wounded over 20 others.
