Usain Bolt added to his legend and cemented his Olympic legend Friday in Rio with his third gold medal of these Games.

“Noting that early in Bolt’s career experts dismissed the idea that a 1.96m (6’5″) tall athlete could be an effective sprinter, Bromell pointed out the irony that people now suggest he and Canada’s Andre de Grasse, 1.76m (5’9”), are too short to succeed.
He went a ideal three-for-three in Rio, his third Olympics, to become one of three men to win nine Olympic gold medals in track and field.
This is not the first time the U.S. relay team has been disqualified in the 100m event. The Americans won the silver, but the team was later disqualified and stripped of the medals because Gay was suspended for doping.
Bolt produced his first truly jaw-dropping moment on the global stage as he stormed to his first Olympic title in a then world record of 9.69 seconds.
The Australian Associated Press says 10 Australian athletes have been detained in Rio de Janeiro for allegedly altering their Olympic credentials to improve their seats at the Australian men’s semifinal basketball game against Serbia. They have been disqualified for either dropping the baton or passing it outside the zone in four of the last six games before Rio. A first-half performance from Serbia was enough to defeat Australia in the second semi-final.
Team Jamaica pose for pictures after they won gold in the Men’s 4 x 100m Relay final. Running the second leg in the relay, Felix kept the USA up there with the mighty Jamaicans, before English Gardner and Tori Bowie brought the baton, tightly clenched in their hands, home for gold.
With yesterday’s 4×100 relay victory, Bolt accumulates nine Olympic golds. The victory was especially meaningful for coach Adam Krikorian, who guided the team with a heavy heart after the shocking death of his brother just two days before the opening ceremony.
She’s won back-to-back ITU world championships but cut back on her schedule this year so she could focus on the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Germany are the Women’s Football champions.
“Usain has done so much”, Powell said.
Serbian volleyball players face a young Chinese squad led by former US coach Jenny Lang Ping in the women’s finals.
At the world youth championships in 2001, he was entered for the 200m but failed to make the finals. They confessed that they practiced just twice before Friday’s race.
Jorgensen was an All-American track star at the University of Wisconsin, where she also was on the swim team. The lineup for the U.S.in the final will be Arman Hall, Tony McQuay, Gil Roberts and LaShawn Merritt.
Finally, the biggest sports news of the day didn’t involve anyone winning a medal in Rio.
Ryan Lochte issued an apology via social media, but the swimmer’s attorney said that should not be viewed as a full mea culpa.

Five days after claiming he and three other USA swimmers were robbed at gunpoint, Lochte posted an apology on his Instagram account for “not being more careful and candid” about the situation, which Brazilian police said Thursday was a lie.
