Usain Bolt still the fastest man in the world

In an televised interview with CBC in Canada, Bolt said that De Grasse is the runner to look out for in the future and I believe he’s right.

“That’s the first time I’ve gone into a stadium and they’ve started to boo”, Bolt said.

She further added that she was convinced about Bolt settling down as he has told her about doing so. “I am better this season”, he said.

“I got to 50 metres and I could tell that I was going to catch him so probably from 50 metres out [I knew i would win]”.

In tennis, Andy Murray became the first player to win two gold medals in the men’s singles event as he scraped past Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 to retain his London 2012 Olympic Games title.

Gatlin, who had been booed by the Rio crowd as he was introduced, crossed in 9.89sec with De Grasse just behind in 9.91. “I really want the 200m world record”.

“Man, at the end of the day being the oldest guy in the field and to say I’m going to be the oldest guy to get on the podium, it’s a victory within itself”, said the 34-year-old.

Bolt posted a time of 9.86 seconds in the semi-final, and was in complete control of the race from the start.

“It wasn’t flawless today, but I got it done and I’m pretty proud of what I’ve achieved”, Bolt said.

“Today I can finally relax”, said Shi, who finished with 406.5 points to beat her compatriot He Zi by 18.15 points.

It was the sweet culmination of a hard season for Bolt with a hamstring injury and lack of form raising questions on his ability to defend his Olympic titles. “I wanted to set myself apart from everybody else and this is the Olympics and this is the place to do it. I was actually exhausted after the 100m and I’m never exhausted after a 100m race”, said Bolt.

Bolt, who hosted van Niekerk in Kingston two months ago for a week-long training exchange said at the time that he was impressed with the quarter-miler’s speed and was full of praise for his latest achievement.

He now has a seventh Olympic gold medal to add to the heaving cabinet of 11 individual and relay world championship gold medals.

“I don’t remember Andre going to any major competition where he didn’t do well, like had a bad day”. “I don’t know why they changed the time, but if we got more time, the race would definitely have been faster”.
