USC coach Steve Sarkisian says he’s getting help after recent incident

Already a story the Trojans would like to see go away, if Coach Sarkisian were to be found drinking after a game it would only create more questions and a possible distraction for the program.

This decision to ban alcohol made sense from a PR perspective considering the Sarkisian incident at Saturday night’s event.

“That’s an issue that really should remain private”, Sarkisian said.

Sarkisian said he met with Haden “at length”, and he added that “there are things that we’re going to work on for me, moving forward, but it’s a hard time …”

Sarkisian refused to say what type of medication he ingested. It brought us closer together as a team.

The news conference came after a written apology issued the day after the Salute to Troy that was posted on the university’s website.

The key line from Sark was, even though “I’m not sure I need rehab”, he’s going to seek treatment.

“I took medication. I mixed it with alcohol – not a lot fortunately – and I responded in a way that was not acceptable for me or for the university”, he said. “I think our team knows where I’m at”.

After finishing 9-4 in Sarkisian’s first season as head coach, USC debuted at No. 8 in the AP poll.

He didn’t say whether he would be forced to miss any coaching duties as a result of the upcoming treatment, and he returned to the practice field to resume business as usual after meeting with the media.
