“It did look like they did go through the motions when we were batting on that (first) day, when we batted big”, added Warner.

Rod Marsh’s panel backed Burns, valuing continuity at the top of the order over Marsh’s fantastic form in the first Test.
The team is adamant they will bounce back in tomorrow’s test match.
The West Indies were bowled out for 223 and 148 in the first Test against Australia in Hobart with the second innings highlight being Kraigg Brathwaite’s 94.
West Indies lost the series-opener in three days and their are question marks over how deserving the West Indies re of the marquee tests of the home summer in Melbourne and Sydney.
The spotlight has fallen on Joe Burns and brother Shaun as two players who could make way for top order batsman Usman Khawaja, who is tipped for reinstatement after recovering from a hamstring strain.
Holder, a bowling all-rounder who was his team’s best bowler in the opening Test, conceded their fast bowlers “had a bad game” at Blundstone Arena, as Australia coasted to a commanding innings victory.
Burns has had a lean few tests but his partnership with opener David Warner has been a success since the series-opener against New Zealand last month. That s the only change West Indies have made. “I might have a hit indoors in the morning to get a bit of confidence up before play”.
Smith also said that his knee is feeling better after resting it for nearly two weeks and he is ready to go as his hip has also settled down. “I’m good to go”.
“We can always improve in certain areas”, Smith said. “But I know that all the criticism that we’ve received since before coming here has hurt and all I can hope is that it pushes them as much as it pushes me to push them to do the work – it pushes them to do well on the field”.
“I believe the guys have that sort of resilience in them”.
Simmons, a former West Indies all-rounder, said Holder had been helped by advice from among the playing squad and the support staff – especially chairman of selectors Clive Lloyd who arrived here last week. “There was a lot more drive in his deliveries and everything like that”, said Simmons.
AUSTRALIA – Steve Smith (captain), David Warner (vc), Scott Boland, Joe Burns, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Peter Nevill, James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Adam Voges.
