“I don’t think that we let up”, Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. “We had 55 shots in the paint and we converted 19 of them and didn’t shoot well from three….” Utah is off to its best start since opening the 2008-09 season with a 5-1 mark. They talk about it all the time, they want more championships. He’s embraced a sixth-man role, and Utah is reaping the rewards so far.

“My teammates found me and I was ready to shoot”, Burke said. “They got a few run-outs and they got a few open 3s”.

Utah’s Gordon Hayward had his best game of the season, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists while shooting 6 for 10 from the field. Rudy Gobert ranks third in league in rebounds (13.0 rpg) and third in blocks (3.60 bpg)… “I think all of the guys need to stay flexible and understand we’re going to do what gives us the best chance as a team”.

“They’re a great team obviously”, Ingles said. “They mucked it up. Offensively, I think was the reason why we weren’t able to set our defense and lock in”.

The Memphis Grizzlies have gotten off to a 3-3 start and are reportedly already considering a coaching change.

Given the history behind Pera and Joerger, it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise if Joerger is fired.

Memphis struggled to score and amassed just 19 points in each of the first three quarters. He finished with eight points and two rebounds in 17 minutes. The Grizzlies lost by 30 at home to the Cavaliers, followed that up with a 50 point loss to the Golden State Warriors, then lost to the new look Portland Trailblazers by 19. “It’s tough right now”.

“Trey had shown why he’s so good in that role … he had the one game up in Detroit where he didn’t play well, but other than that he’s been terrific and really efficient”. The Jazz would go on to lead by as many as 21 in the 3rd quarter.

Thanks to hot-shooting nights from Hayward and point guard Trey Burke, the Jazz had built up a double-digit advantage heading into the final quarter.

Tip-in: Griz reserve forward/center Brandan Wright left at the end of the first quarter with right knee soreness. He did not return.

NOTES: In Memphis coach David Joerger’s mind, being a physical team doesn’t just mean “going to the basket and knocking people down”. His definition includes screening and cutting hard. “Jerry Sloan teams played like that.”…
