Utah has partially reinstated suspended receiver Cory Butler-Byrd a day after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief for damaging a police auto and building last month.
The 21-year-old’s criminal mischief charge will be dismissed pending no criminal offenses in the next year, proof of mental health counseling and a $1,691.50 restitution payment for the damage he caused. He later told police he had broken a window in the building and jumped on top of a police vehicle, damaging the roof and the rear windshield.
Butler-Byrd was suspended indefinitely on the first day of fall camp for what coach Kyle Whittingham called “personal issues” in a school release.
Last season, Butler-Byrd played both cornerback and wide receiver for the Utes.
Butler-Byrd was arrested July 27 on campus and subsequently charged with damaging a police building and an officer’s vehicle. Butler-Boyd also had a kick return for a touchdown.

There is no word how many games Butler-Byrd will miss this season.
