Uttar Pradesh: Dalit couple hacked to death over monetary issue
Police in India have reported that a man from India’s Dalit community has been beheaded and his wife hacked to death after over 15 rupees owed for the purchase of some biscuits in Uttar Pradesh state.

Party leader Gaurav Bhatia said, “It is most unfortunate that a person is killed for a small amount of money [the altercation was reportedly over a loan of Rs 15]”.
Superintendent of Police Deo Ranjan Verma and District Magistrate P C Gupta have rushed to the spot with reinforcements in view of the tension in the village. Eyewitnesses told the police Mishra met Bharat and Mamta on the main road and asked them to clear his dues of Rs 15.
Police arrested the main accused Ashok Mishra and his wife Rajni after breaking down the door of their house when they refused to come out, fearing retaliation from the crowd gathered outside. Police said that the children aged 11, 9 and 8 were in a state of shock and unable to speak.
Dalits, formerly referred to as untouchables, form the lowest rung of the caste hierarchy of India. He then attacked the couple.
The killings have created panic and triggered protests from Dalit community in the district.
