Uzbek government announces death of President Islam Karimov
It is unclear who is now in charge of the Central Asian nation of around 29 million. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin had no confirmation that Karimov might be dead.

He has no obvious successor and analysts say the transition of power is likely to be decided by a small group of senior officials and family members.
