Ex Liverpool assistant manager Pako Ayestaran has been fired as Valencia manager after less than six months in charge.

Pako Ayestaran has been dismissed with Valencia rooted to the bottom of the table after losing all of their opening four LaLiga matches.
The news was announced this evening that the Liga side had pulled the plug on Ayestaran after four consecutive defeats.
Former Valencia defender Voro Gonzalez has been placed in charge of first-team affairs on a temporary basis, having served as caretaker manager on three previous occasions.
“Following the meeting held today by the board of directors, Valencia CF have chose to relieve Coach Pako Ayestaran from his office”, read a statement on the club’s official website.
“The decision was taken after analysing the current sporting situation and the team’s results”.
“Valencia football club wishes to thank the involvement, effort and professionalism of Pako Ayestaran and his coaching staff in his time at the helm. The club wish him and his team the best of luck for the future”.
Ayestaran, 53, replaced Gary Neville last March but the Spanish club have lost eight out of 12 games under his stewardship.
But he wasn’t aided by a fire sale of the club’s best players sanctioned by Singaporean owner Peter Lim in the off-season.

10 points from his first five games were enough for the club to stave off relegation last season, but the end of the last campaign and the start of this have seen Los Che suffer seven straight losses.
