Harper has been performing in the Ogunquit Playhouse’s production as Millicent Winter in “Nice Work If You Can Get It”, along with Sally Struthers and Duchess Estonia Dulworth.

The fire department confirms to ET that they received a call at 8:56 p.m. about an unconscious 75-year-old female backstage, and that she was taken to York Hospital.

“The audiences and all of us here at the Playhouse are greatly enjoying our time with Valerie here in Ogunquit, and we are encouraged that she is feeling better”, stated executive artistic producer Bradford T. Kenney. According to “Entertainment Tonight,” the show’s artistic director announced to the audience that the ambulance was for Harper, and she would not be taking the stage.

However, a source told ET that the situation “doesn’t look good” and a crew member said that Harper had been ill all week.

Harper was diagnosed with Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. But she also said, “I’m ready to go”. The actress, who previously battled lung cancer, said in May that her current cancer was not progressing, based on the screenings she undergoes every two months.
