Reported by the release, Harper is now undergoing observation, but is “resting comfortably”.
Valerie Harper is reportedly in a coma. She spent Wednesday night receiving treatment and was discharged Thursday morning, Deadline.com says.
A source tells “ET” that the situation “doesn’t look good”, and further claims Harper has been unwell over the last few days. She was hospitalized on July 29 prior to a scheduled stage performance. Despite the diagnosis, the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” star stayed optimistic and continued to enjoy life, participating in various projects such as “Dancing with the Stars”. She told People magazine that numerous tests showed she had leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare disorder in which cancer cells metastasize into the fluid-filled membrane enveloping the brain. Harper was then taken to York Hospital, Entertainment Tonight reports. It appears Harper was conscious by the time she left the theatre as she asked the director to pass a message on to the audience.
The beloved actress previously battled with lung cancer.
On the contrary, an unnamed source dismissed the director’s statement and said Harper’s condition is worse than it’s being told to the public.
“We don’t know what’s around the corner”, she added.
