Van Gaal blames traffic for fans’ early Old Trafford exit

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Van Gaal said: “It could also be because of the traffic that they left the stadium a few minutes earlier”.

“Maybe (fans left) also because of the traffic”.

Sunderland took a 17th-minute lead at the Emirates Stadium through Jeremain Lens, but Joel Campbell equalized eight minutes later before second-half goals by Ramsey and Giroud gave Arsene Wenger a win.

“I’m not Sir Alex, as you know”, said Van Gaal, who has rarely come to the touchline to speak to his players during his spell at the club.

“You have to be happy as a Manchester United fan that we are in next round and we have won the last two games”, Van Gaal told reporters ahead of the Premier League game at Newcastle United on Tuesday. “But we are in the next round”.

Manchester United put in another tepid display against minnows Sheffield United in the FA Cup, winning 1-0 as a result of a last gasp penalty, and former legend Paul Scholes claims he would’ve gone into depression playing for this team.

Van Gaal’s future as United boss will be thrown into question again tonight if they fail to win at Newcastle. “But we have won and that is the most important thing in the FA Cup – we have to be in the next round and we are there”. “You have to wait to see how the players are recovering of the load in the match”.

“That they were ironic, I can imagine”.

“When I was looking at matches to analyse an opponent, I have done that also”. How many stadiums were like ours, full?

Van Gaal and his team found themselves in a storm of critcism, with the likes of Paul Scholes going insane about their “boring” style of play.

“With our injuries and players in the red zone, we have to take care of it. I think we have done it well”. You have to be in the next round and that’s where we are. I don’t hope that they win against us.

Louis van Gaal to #MUTV: “Bastian Schweinsteiger is injured, that we know”. Sometimes the players who are on our sideline we can influence but if we can only influence one player then the individual player has to communicate with the other players.
