Van Gaal braced for fan gauntlet

Louis van Gaal says that Manchester United supporters must get behind the team against Stoke.

‘Stoke are a team that every club in the Premier League has a lot of difficulties with, ‘ he acknowledged.

After a defeat against Southampton at home, Manchester United got back to winning ways with an impressive 3-1 win over Derby in the FA Cup this week and Van Gaal will be looking to build on it with another win against Stoke.

But against the counter attacking sides as well as the power-houses like Manchester City, they have to watch all areas of the pitch.

“Some fans want Van Gaal out immediately and they are the people who will ultimately decide his fate”.

Jose Mourinho is the man reported to be his replacement, despite earlier suggestions that the former Chelsea manager wasn’t a universally popular choice amongst United’s board members to take over at Old Trafford.

City, with 13 goals in its last four league and Cup games faces relegation-threatened Sunderland while Spurs, rounding out the top four on 42 points, will seek to extend their 10-match unbeaten league away run at Norwich.

“Of course, I’m aware of it”, said the striker, who broke Charlton’s England goal-scoring record last September.

Describing the criticism against his manager as “unfair”, Rooney said that his side had been trying hard to win the matches, but were unfortunately failing in their efforts.

As a result, the club faithful have not been afraid to voice their discontent with United’s style of play, prompting Potters boss Hughes to suggest that the Red Devils are not immune from player and fan anxiety if things do not go according to plan.

Leicester have confounded expectations to move to top spot, losing only twice in the league all season.

This game will be important for Van Gaal since his job is more or less on the line and a loss here might be enough for him to lose his jobs.
