David de Gea has been dropped for Manchester United’s game against Tottenham because he has been mentally affected by speculation regarding his future, according to manager Louis van Gaal.

“We have to pay a lot of money for all the players we want, and we want to sell at the same level”.

As such, he has decided to resolve it by dropping the Spain worldwide, who has been named United’s best player in each of the last two seasons.

Louis van Gaal felt “it was a hard game” as both teams set out to do the same thing and that was to “press well” and this meant “the players didn’t have time on the ball” so possession wasn’t “easy”.

He said: “I’m frustrated and disappointed, but very happy with the performance”.

Christian Eriksen put a lob on the roof of the net and twice forced late saves from Romero as a new-look United side made an unconvincing start to the campaign.

“Of course we have problems still with the goalkeeper, so we need maybe two more players”.

‘We want to keep him of course but I’m not the most important part, that’s the player and the club who want to buy him.

Romero, Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay made their Premier League debuts for United, while Bastian Schweinsteiger was among the substitutes.

New Villa striker Gestebe score the decisive goal as they got off to a good start in the premiership. “It is not a special objective for me”, van Gaal was quoted as saying by goal.com on Monday.

“I liked Darmian because he played a good match in possession and when the opponent had the ball. It was very frustrating and disappointing in the dressing room”, Pochettino said.
