Van Gaal confirms De Gea will not play against Tottenham

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho feels David de Gea’s absence won’t make too much of a difference to Manchester United.

Sergio Romero, Darmian, Depay and Schneiderlin might make their Old Trafford debut at the weekend. It’s unbelievable! But it’s not possible for Rojo to be match fit as he was the last player to come back.

United have retained a firm stance on De Gea all summer, insisting he will not be sold to the Spanish giants unless they receive Sergio Ramos in return.

Throughout the season Blind was a player that Louis Van Gaal relied upon heavily and the trust appears mutual.

“We are asking money and they have to pay money”.

The manager refused to say who would play instead, but there is a possibility that Sam Johnstone may be called up for his club debut. “I think [it’s] our philosophy, our idea and I think it is good for the club and for the future”. Both travelled on the US tour, but neither played for United last season. Hugo Lloris returned from a wrist injury to come off the bench against AC Milan on Wednesday night but might not be fit enough to play 90 minutes, so Michel Vorm will be waiting in the wings. The Frenchman has been touted as a potential replacement for David de Gea.

In a time when United are clearly starting a new era – with a team nearly unrecognisable from the one that won the league just two years ago – Van Gaal mustn’t let his obsession with building his own team in his image neglect what made the club so great before he arrived. That’s why the transfer period has to change.

“We have showcased situations on the pitch when it’s been negative and they’ve not dealt with it properly, then – after work with them to put it right – how they dealt with it properly and how it becomes second nature”.

“We are delighted that Ashley has signed a new contract”. If you see the number of United fans travelling with us, it’s unbelievable. “I have to observe”.

But the United boss suggested Di Maria may have struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.

United will no longer be able to count on Angel di Maria after he completed his £44.3million move to Paris St Germain on Thursday.

Van Gaal said: “I want more attackers with speed and creativity”. They won three of their four matches.

Meanwhile, newly-signed German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and defender Marcos Rojo are also out of the squad due to fitness concerns.
