In his pre-match conference before Bournemouth game, he was asked if he doubted his ability to win trophies with United, Van Gaal said: “No. I don’t have any doubts”.

Frustrated boss Van Gaal blasted the sloppy defending that led to Bournemouth’s 2-1 victory, insisting United must heed a “strong lesson” from Dean Court defeat.
United have now conceded four goals from set pieces in the last two games, and Van Gaal told the BBC: “Two set plays cost us”.
Manchester United looks to bounce back from getting eliminated from the Champions League in midweek in an away match at Bournemouth, which beat Chelsea last weekend.
But before they can lick their wounds, they have to face Bournemouth, the squad that just defeated the Premier league champions!
With his Man United side already heavily criticized for not scoring enough goals and playing entertaining soccer this season, the European woes have compounded the woes of van Gaal. Still we had chances, but they have also chances.
The Scot was sacked by United after less than 11 months in charge of the Red Devils following a 3-0 loss to his former employers Everton in April 2013.
And Cherries striker Josh King, who used to play for United, then gave Eddie Howe’s team all three points after the visitors were once again caught out from a corner nine minutes after half-time, much to Van Gaal’s frustration.
“And then to come to Bournemouth, we wanted to bounce back and we tried to bounce back and to fall short like we have is doubly disappointing”. We didn’t do that in the first half but we had the feeling in the players, the management and his staff that could win this game. We’re focused on next week to get back to winning games.
Van Gaal, whose tactics have come in for some serious criticism this season, felt his side would go on to win at half-time with the scores level at the break.
“And I think that’s the most important thing”.
“We shall do everything to win something, but it is very hard”, he said.
“The cohesion between the manager and his staff and the players, that’s the most important thing”. I really want to pay tribute to his family and how he played, and how courageous he was in his performance.
“We have now to win three matches in a row for example, to be there still after Christmas”.
“When you say that I am hired to make the difference, you are right”, he said.

‘Of course I am concerned because this is not usual for United. When you see the facts, we were further in the Capital One Cup, we qualified for the Champions League group; we have played all these matches and are still in a very good position in the league.
