Van Gaal ‘not worried’ by Manchester United form

Leicester would be justified in asking more than £20m for a man that could break Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in 10 consecutive games against Manchester United.

United have scored only six goals in their last eight games, four of which have been 0-0 draws, but while Van Gaal admitted to feeling concerned, he drew encouragement from the handful of chances his side had created.

Louis van Gaal is beginning to lose the patience of Manchester United fans after a series of uninspiring performances. Then you are a great player. This is not the way they’re set out to play and I don’t know if it is going to change. “It’s not so easy to do that”.

Van Gaal believes that Leicester represent a genuine title threat.

“Normally these kind of clubs can be a long time competing, but normally at the end it’s more hard”.

Earlier, United skipper Wayne Rooney had said that his side were not ruthless enough and insisted that they needed to score more goals as a team.

“The fans have to be happy”.

The 30-year-old has scored just two Premier League goals this season and his below-par displays have seen some Red Devils fans call for the 30-year-old to be dropped.

“But you have to see how our opponents are playing against us and when you see how they play then you know the difficulty to disorganise that opponent – it is very hard”.

“We are still not lucky in finishing the chances”. “I don’t want to give the honour to answer this question because it is too much honour for the one who says things”.

“We are still second so we are still in the qualifying position and we have to do it in Wolfsburg but that is more hard”, he added. “So as a manager, I am satisfied with him”.

‘With the amount of chances that we created, we should have probably won the game, especially in the second half when it came open.

Rooney’s form remains a major line of questioning at Van Gaal’s pre-match press conferences, and it was no different on the eve of the Leicester game. That is what he is doing but, no, it is not very exciting.

Also at the top of the Premier League, Manchester City will look to bounce back from two defeats in a week when they host Southampton at the Etihad Stadium. “It’s great for us to improve”.
