Van Gaal says Manchester United want Cristiano Ronaldo
Despite United still dreaming of Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford, the chances seem slim even after Louis Van Gaal admitted last week they could be interested.

Ferguson sold Ronaldo to Real Madrid in 2009 for a world record fee.
However, ahead of United’s Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven, Van Gaal has denied his interest in Robben, stating that it is a fabrication from the media just like the club’s supposed link with Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo will be hoping to be amongst the goals this weekend as Real Madrid host Barcelona in El Clasico.
The Portugal captain has brought three Premier League titles to Manchester during his six-year stay in England and is considered as one of the most successful acquisitions of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all being touted with January moves in Sunday’s press, with the Premier League trio all mentioned as clubs looking to seal deals when the window reopens.
Madrid are reportedly thinking about selling the striker, who has not scored in 10 of the 16 games this season, he is arguably their best ever player, but has fallen out with the coach and president.
“But he’d be welcomed with open arms at United, they still sing his name now”.
Louis van Gaal is known to be looking to strengthen in the new year, but conceded that he is looking at other players as well.
When Ronaldo left to join Real Madrid the game-changing commodity in the Reds ranks dipped.
Jesse Lingard looks set to be rewarded with a new contract at Manchester United. “Would a return to United be a good thing?” Ronaldo regarded him as a father figure and huge influence on his career.
“You can’t have one guy out on the wing, and say, “Do what you like”.
“When I was talking with him – ‘I don’t know.’ He says, ‘Pat you know the way I love Man United'”.

She recently accompanied him to the premiere of his recent film, Ronaldo, and is a regular in the stands at the Bernabeu. “I was like “wow, we are ready to bounce back and win the Champions League again”.
