Van Gaal: United dominated Leicester draw
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy made history on Sunday (AEDT) by scoring for the 11th Premier League match running in his side’s 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United.

The goal meant Vardy has now scored in ELEVEN (11) consecutive Premier League games, surpassing the record previously held by former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
“The record was not in my mind, it would have affected my performance and the team’s, and that’s the last thing I wanted to do”, he said. “We put a good shift in, I think a point was a fair result”.
Louis van Gaal spoke about Vardy at his pre match press conference saying “he was already a very nasty player for us last season” as he scored against United in the 5-3 win last season, and Van Gaal says “now he is scoring in a row 10 goals, then you are a great player”.
“I can think about it when I am home but as soon as I cross the white line all I should be concentrating on is my football. We’ll be taking each game as they come, get back out on the training ground and prepare for Swansea away next week”.
United were then handed a lifeline on the stroke of half-time as Leicester failed to learn their lesson from earlier in the half when they had given Wayne Rooney too much time and space from a corner, only for the England man to head wide. In the process Rooney, who was offside in any case, took a boot to the torso from Huth that left him with a visible mark when he came off.
“For me, the teams in contention are Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham and maybe Liverpool”, Henry wrote in his column for The Sun.
But Vardy’s latest goal wasn’t enough to keep Leicester top of the league.
United goal-scorer Bastian Schweinsteiger said: “Vardy is playing really well and is unsafe”.
– Manchester United (and David de Gea) conceded from open play in the Premier League for the first time in 545 minutes.
“When you see the data against PSV they were the highest data physically of the whole season of Manchester United and nobody knows that”.
This time, the Dutchman’s delivery was met by Schweinsteiger, who easily shrugged off the ineffective attempts of Shinji Okazaki to impede him, and powered a close-range header past the helpless Schmeichel.
“We drew the match and the performance was good and I am very happy with the record of Jamie Vardy, it is a great achievement”.
Schweinsteiger has been one of United’s better performers this season having signed from Bayern Munich for £14.4 million in the summer (fee via BBC Sport).

“We have to bring the fans what they want and that is not it”, admitted McClaren.
