Van Gaal urges United to believe in Europa comeback

The Red Devils last turned around a 2-0 deficit after its first leg tie in the 2013 to 2014 season where it faced and beat Olympiakos 3-0 in the Champions League last 16 return leg.

But after the nature of the convincing 2-0 home win in the first leg, the midfielder added, “We’ll go into the game confident we can finish the job”.

“I’m hoping, depending on the two cups we’re still in, there could be 10 games left for United, plus the England games, so I don’t think that would be a worry”.

Klopp said in a press conference: ” Since I’ve been here we will have played them three times and we have always been in the game.

“So we want to do our best and it would mean it is hard for Manchester United to enjoy the game”.

“Instead of getting somewhere between a 7 and a 9 every week, as the top teams with the top players do, they’re getting between a 5 and an 8 from United and Liverpool right now”. You talk about the atmosphere when we played there, but we have more fans at home, the capacity is bigger and our fans for me and for (Van Gaal) – he has told that a few times – are the best in England.

“I get why he was there but he’s much more of a handful when he plays as a centre forward”. It’s not the most important thing, but we will try to play similarly or more intensive than we did at Anfield.

“We always owe to the fans a big result because the fans are paying to see that”.

“It will be completely different”.

The inability to net an away goal at Anfield has made Thursday’s task even tougher for Van Gaal’s side as they look to upset the odds and secure a memorable comeback under the Old Trafford lights.

“I didn’t think for one second about it”. Liverpool trained at Old Trafford on Wednesday stayed overnight in Manchester and will have a second training session at the stadium on Thursday. “They have a lot of impact on the pitch”, said Dutchman Van Gaal. We are still fighting and we still have something to play for.

“It’s football. We have the chance”.

Ryan Giggs admitted his frustration with Manchester United’s inconsistencies, though the assistant manager highlighted the club’s unfortunate injury record this season. Liverpool were full value for their win in that first game with the reds dominating possession and chances created.
