Van Gaal wants to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford

This is interesting news for Manchester United fans as Louis van Gaal sent the British tabloids into a frenzy with his comments on potentially bringing Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

It comes after Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes said it would be “impossible” for the 30-year-old to leave Madrid.

United, meanwhile, leapfrogged rivals Manchester City with their 2-1 win at Watford, Van Gaal’s side trail league leaders Leicester City by just one point.

“And I remember he said when we played against them at Old Trafford, he said, ‘Pat all night I could not sleep”.

Marca claims that Ferguson spoke to Ronaldo about his future the last time they met, at the player’s film premiere early this month, an effort to tempt him.

Still the most expensive player in the history of football, Gareth Bale is high on the transfer wish list of Manchester United who appears to be overly desperate in their quest to land the speedy winger. “With Ronaldo, lets wait and hope”.

Ronaldo is believed to be unhappy in the Spanish capital, meaning that it will likely be a straight shoot out between United and PSG to prize him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

He is the all time goal scorer at Madrid, victor of three Ballon d’Ors, and reportedly the world’s richest player, earning around £288k-per-week after tax.

Ronaldo has still managed to score eight goals in 12 La Liga games this season, but there are suggestions that his relationship with manager Benitez is continuing to sour.

When Ronaldo left to join Real Madrid the game-changing commodity in the Reds ranks dipped. The Mirror thinks United could be in for either of them.

“Of course, we would look”, he said when asked if he would be keen to sign the Real Madrid superstar. I would say about £50-£60 million is a fair price for a player who has already seen the peak years of his career.
