Jose Mourinho is a strong favourite to replace Van Gaal at Manchester United.

Lampard, who worked under Mourinho during the Portuguese manager’s two spells at Stamford Bridge, was asked by ITV’s This Morning where his former boss might end up next following his departure from Chelsea in December.
United, which has not won a trophy since van Gaal’s appointment, is now fifth in the league and crashed out of the Champions League in the group phase.
Recent reports have also said that Jorge Mendes, Mourinho’s agent, was recently in London to attend a meeting with United officials regarding The Special One’s potential three-year, £300,000 per week contract that will start next season. “I have managed all of my career, so it would not be good or honest of me to ask Ryan to say something”.
“Pep was here in Doha during the winter break in the Bundesliga and already confirmed me that he was going to the Premier League, to Manchester City”.
Louis Van Gaal has been under a huge amount of pressure over the last few weeks.

As well as providing an update on that trio, van Gaal said he was unsure on when Bastian Schweinsteiger was returning and said he had been given a holiday as it is a longer than expected injury.
