Vardy breaks record as Leicester draw with United
The record capped a remarkable rise for 28-year-old Vardy, who was playing non-league football with Fleetwood Town just three years ago and had been playing in the seventh tier of English football as recently as 2010. This makes for a great rags-to-riches story and Vardy made the fairy tale come true.

Here is a video of that historic goal.
In doing so, the striker has beaten Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s long standing record and there was even a tweet from the former United striker congratulating Vardy.
Leicester have been mightily impressive so far this season, but starting this evening Ranieri’s side will need to crank it up a gear if they want to remain in title race discussions by the start of 2016. The Swans have just one win in their last ten matches in all competitions, and have fallen down to 14th on the table.
As United pushed for a goal, manager Louis van Gaal, to many fans’ surprise, took captain Wayne Rooney off and replaced him with Memphis Depay.
After last season’s extraordinary 5-3 defeat to Leicester at The King Power, last term, the game perhaps unsurprisingly began cagily. Leicester and Man United pulled a draw on Saturday with Jamie Vardy scoring a record-setting goal, while Man City won over Southampton.
Bastian Schweinsteiger cancelled out a Jamie Vardy opener as Manchester United were held to a draw at Leicester.
Leonardo Ulloa squandered Leicester’s best chance of a victor, when his weak shot at the end of a rapid counterattack was saved by De Gea’s right foot in the 66th.
Vardy’s goal appeared to inspire Leicester and Riyad Mahrez went close to making it two when working a neat one-two with Shinji Okazaki on the edge of the box, only to shoot straight at De Gea. Van Gaal again saw his side struggle going forward – with their first-half leveller barely deserved – and Rooney’s form remains a problem.
Ranieri said: ” I was sure he wanted to change something. His touch was poor at times, allowing the ball to get away from him, while his crossing – once he had worked himself into good positions – was substandard, as he failed to beat the first man or overhit it. Newcastle has conceded at least three goals in four of its last seven matches, piling the pressure on its manager Steve McClaren following reports this week that he was involved in a training-ground bust-up with some players.
And Ross Barkley thought he had given Everton a dramatic win over Bournemouth with his late effort only for Junior Stanislas to level things in a 3-3 thriller.

“We drew the match but I am pleased because the performance was good, but I am happy with the record for Jamie Vardy”. We are top of the table and in this moment I think we deserve it, but this is another match to understand where we can improve.
