Vardy grateful to Van Nistelrooy after equalling Premier League record
Coincidentally, it was here that Dutch master van Nistelrooy set the record with Manchester United in a 2-1 victory in August 2003.

Van Nistelrooy wished Vardy good luck in a tweet before the game and the Leicester man said: “People kept screen-shotting it and sending it to me”.
“I’ve matched his (Van Nistelrooy’s) record and we have got the three points and a clean sheet. After, we can speak about other things but now we are very, very focused on our goal”.
While Vardy stole the headlines, the England global wasn’t Leicester’s only hero in their eighth win in 13 league matches. “Monday morning on the training field, work hard, put it right, make sure we’re right against Palace next week”.
Christian Fuchs posted a video on social media showing Vardy in the centre of the Leicester City dressing room, thanking them for their support and contribution.
James Morrison and Mikel Arteta’s own goal cancelled out Olivier Giroud’s first-half opener as the Gunners suffered a frustrating afternoon and lost 2-1 at The Hawthorns.
“Words that I can use (to describe Newcastle’s performance are): woeful, embarrassing, hopeless, inept”, said the former Newcastle striker.
In the Championship, England Under-21s keeper Jordan Pickford scored an unfortunate own goal to give Blackburn the lead in Preston North End’s Lancashire derby at Deepdale, before failing to keep out a penalty just after half time as Rovers got a 2-1 win.
“In football you always have 90-93 minutes”, said German midfielder Schweinsteiger.
Ross Barkley says he is “enjoying the best football of my career” as he shone in Everton’s 4-0 win over bottom side Aston Villa on Saturday. His 10th goal of the season saw Vardy hit the back of the net for the seventh successive Premier League fixture, adding his name to an elite group which includes Van Nistelrooy, Daniel Sturridge, Mark Stein, Ian Wright, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Emmanuel Adebayor.

City’s Argentina striker Sergio Aguero, returning from injury, pulled one back brilliantly just before halftime but Martin Skrtel sealed Liverpool’s emphatic triumph with a thunderous 81st minute strike.
