Under the hood, the new KUV100 will be powered by new engine Family – mFalcon engine platform. This compact SUV will run brand new petrol and diesel engines under the mFalcon banner.
Unlike the recently launched TUV300, which sports a squarish silhouette, the KUV100 gets a round and muscular appearance, more in line with modern-day small crossovers like the Ford EcoSport. Speaking about its name, Mahindra said that the letter K stands for Kool and / or Kompact, as that is what was the first reaction of people who were shown the auto.
The KUV100 will be targeted towards youngsters and first time vehicle buyers. The carmaker also plans to offer the KUV100 with 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines in the future. The bookings of the latest instalment from Mahindra will commence from December 19 with a launch date set from January 15 next year.
Coming to the auto itself, the S101, like the Mahindra XUV500, has been built on the Monocoque chassis and comes with front wheel drive architecture. Both engines comply with BS-IV emission norms and are mated to a 5-speed gearbox. A mini six-second YouTube video, featuring a montage of Varun’s photographs with the KUV100, is also a part of this association.
In a press release, Mahindra termed the KUV100 as a next generation SUV that fits the evolving aspirations and lifestyle of today’s youth.
